South yard

We continue with projects around the house. Mostly landscaping changes to accommodate the increasingly shady area in front and sunny in the back (trees are growing and coming down, respectively). This project has however, created a very special spot in the shade just right for Lynda's hammock ... ahhh!

Frances

Frances is now about 8 and slowing down a little. The SPCA paperwork said she is a Border Collie mix. We think the "mix" is Shepherd with those ears and bone structure and Husky with all that winter coat!  Research has also found a European breed she resembles called Karelian Bear dog. She is very smart and still quite feisty.  Her favorite game is Keep Away. She is very well behaved in public and loves to go for a  w-a-l-k  or "car-ride!"

Conner - 2009

Conner graduated from Eisenhower HS in June 2009.  He has decided to stay in Yakima to attend YVCC, our local junior college, and explore the different directions he would like to go -- Communications, Digital Design, Computer Science, Video Productions, or something completely different... who knows.  He is working with WA state parks at our Yakima Sportsman Park for the season and hopes to find time to still swimming for our local YMCA team.

Kennon - 2011 Kennon graduated in 2011 from Eisenhower HS and finished his freshman year at YVCC as part of Running Start Program.  He plans to continue at YVCC to attain his AA then transfer to U of W in the fall of 2013.  His biggest challenge right now is finding employment but has enough to keep him busy with lawns, house-sitting, and scholarship applications.  He still enjoys the art of being a thespian performer and hopes to find a group that can appreciate his talents locally -- Gene Kelly, move over.

Family Tree Research Family History research is just liking piecing a puzzle together... a 300 year old puzzle.  My third cousin and friend, Norman Schauls, has continued progress on his branch of the Schauls tree. He has even finished his several year project and created a wonderful book of the entire family!  Stop by www.schauls.net and see his progress. or order your own copy.   For Lynda, it's an ongoing process as time permits but very rewarding when another piece fits.  Link to see the Johann Schauls, Bry Fretwell, and Dilworth families back to the 1700s.

 Cabin

The cabin is still around, however the US Forest Service continues to be slow with permissions to update, fix, or change anything. We did get our well installed and finally the water has cleared. Still want to replace the "Bunk House," pending USFS approval of the proposed plans.  We decided that it was time we test the market and have placed the Cabin for sale.  It was a sad day but our lifestyles have changed so much, it is time to let another family enjoy it.
